waa!!

YUP! it's the usual "waa!" you get from me.. it just shows that i don't have anything important going on that you should or is concerned of..... This is just basically me getting my hands on these keys and browsing the web having nothing better to do but to have random thoughts "blogged"!!

I have just been checking on my blog and i just figured I should do this more often... You think so, right?! really? yeah, i don't care anyway... :p
So, there! this should jumpstart my blog mode........

PROCESS TRAINING

first, there was two weeks of Special Language Training.. then, another two weeks in CORE Training... Today, I started my Process Training.. another two weeks?! ah-ah! i'll be in process training for another 25 days!! that's 5weeks!! but wait! there's more! after that, we'll have this ISD / OJT for another 4 weeks.. Only then, that we will be on my own in handling calls..

that's two, two, five, and four... So, that's a wooping thirteen weeks of TRAINING.. what more could i ask for?! do you know any other call center that gives this level of EXTENSIVEness in training their employees? after that thirteen weeks, i'll be a polished, precious gem...

am really learning a lot! actually it's not about HSBC or the THINGS going down here.. it's the skills and qualities i have.. i can say that i have really improved a lot especially when it comes with CONFIDENCE..

anyway, process training is about getting acquainted with the way we will deal with out customers.. it's INFORMATION OVERLOAD all the time! there's a lot they are teaching us.. am really quite excited to get on the floor and handle the calls with my own PC and headset...

we also got our own ID and lockers last week!!

CORE Training

Now, i am attending the 10-day CORE Training which is about the company.. we are learning its history, CORE values, vision... etc.. we are also doing more VOICE training everyday... a lot of accent reduction and tongue twisters...

the worst part of this training probably is the schedule... its from 6 am to 3pm.. i have to wake up at 3:30 in the morning every weekday.. that's 3:30 guys!! Anyway, i think it's a good thing.. this way, we will get used to waking up early and having little sleep going to work.. i don't have any problem with that.. am used to having little sleep but the thing is, i don't like it.. of course! who hates sleeping?!

Am already on my 5th day.. i hope i made it through CORE training to the PROCESS training.. wish me luck!

Special Language Training

After my interview on Monday, I immediately attended the American Accent Training the following day.. it's a special language class with John Clements Consultants Inc.. The training was scheduled for ten days, 8 hours a day..

Each day we do a lot of exercises such as listening, grammar usage, and of course, a LOT of speaking.. all these were intended to polish our English and of course build our confidence..

I was the worst in class... i was the one with the lowest level of confidence... i stammer or pause a lot when answering questions.. and according to my trainer, my face just cringe whenever i hear my name called to answer the question..

Anyway, that's what the training is for... our trainer, Sharon Charlston, did a good job of building my confidence... She gave a lot of good pointers how to answer a question... and that was all i need to get going.. Learning the right way to answer a question is all i need to feel comfortable and consequently build confidence... and feeling comfortable gives me a lot more time to pick the right words for my answer..

Then, after two weeks working on our grammar, accent, voice quality listening skills, and of course building confidence, we had our post-assesment.. it's an interview with John Clements and another one with HSBC.. I did good.. far better than my pre-assesment.. the interviewer thinks so... After two hours, the moment of truth came-announcement of those who made it through the SLT to the CORE training.. The room erupted in cheers as our interviewer declared that all of the eight of us made it!! we are so happy since the previous batches didn't have a hundred percent passing rate...

We are so happy we made it! and we owe it all, especially me, to Sharon.. so we called our group "Team SHARON"

THE APPLICATION

After exactly a month of 'agyagi', i finally signed a contract with Honghong Shang-hai Banking Corporation (HSBC)

It all started more than two weeks ago when i attended a friend's bday party.. He is meo, an HSBC employee as well.. He encouraged me to apply in HSBC. The following Monday, i did. the application process was very traumatic... eheheh..

i was bombarded with a lot of questions.. and that was the very first longest instance that i spoke plain English non-stop! I had a total of 4 interviews and two exams.. the first exam is about english usage and grammar while the second one was encoding.. the worst interview was the second one. i took me almost an hour answering questions about anything regarding just about anything she can think of...

the last interview was actually the most enjoyable.. when the interviewer asked me where im from, she was surprised by my response, because she is from bicol too. not just bicol but the same city.. we live in neighboring barangays.. she was there to let me sign my contract.. yeah! contract!! it was actually not the contract with HSCB but a contract that i will undergo a language training, especifically American Accent Training.. We spent a lot of time talking about ligao.. and how we are connected by mentioning common friends/acquaintances.. AND that was in bicol ligao dialect, so it was really a good time to untwist my tongue..

The application process was really fast but grueling.. well, at least I passed!! weeeeeeee!!!

agyagi - a Bikol-Ligao term which means "to stroll" or "to wander"... actually, it is not just merely walking on foot, it could also mean travelling.. the basic idea is, going to places, looking for adventure, and having fun!!
AGYAGi!!!!

I have been here in Laguna for a week and 2days now.. and in that short period of time, i made lots of "agyagi".. I've been to Makati, Valenzuela City, Laguna Technopark, UP diliman, alabang, Araneta center, San Mateo Rizal, Cabuyao, Turbina, Pasay, Quezon City.. etc..You might be wondering just why am going to such places... well,am picking up loose change along the way.. this is what i do for a living.. ehehe..

Am really having fun travelling into different places, each time meeting new acquaintances, talking with different kinds of people, trying out something new, using different modes of transportation, learning new things... Each time, making new MEMORIES..

i just dropped-by since i missed my blog.. till next time... i have to go now.. I have to continue my AGYAGI!!! c'mon! it'll be fun! join me!!

am back!

On my last post, i mentioned that i was invited by the DOST for a job fair and i am not going to attend.. Plans changed.. i left for manila last 25th.. I attended the Job fair.. there were 36 companies that participated.. i attempted to apply in as many companies but the forms they want us to accomplish is so long that i only managed to submit at most 8 (i think)...

I really had a great time.. pasensiya, i can't make kuwento.. Basta, i did... another memorable experience ung pag stay ko dun for three days... WHY?! AKIN n lang UN.. eheheh...

yep. three days... i have to be back here in bicol for my Civil Service Prof exam... i took the exam this morning.. HELL, t'was difficult! anyway, i think i did just fine.. but i don't think it would be enough for me to pass.. what i meant when i say that i did just fine is that, i was able to answer all the questions and didn't make a total mistakein answering the questions..

i want to start practicing making short posts... i noticed that during my stay there, i had little time to access the web.. I really did miss internet.. i still don't know when i will go back there.. maybe, tomorrow... just keep in touch you guyz!! ciao!!
