am back!

On my last post, i mentioned that i was invited by the DOST for a job fair and i am not going to attend.. Plans changed.. i left for manila last 25th.. I attended the Job fair.. there were 36 companies that participated.. i attempted to apply in as many companies but the forms they want us to accomplish is so long that i only managed to submit at most 8 (i think)...

I really had a great time.. pasensiya, i can't make kuwento.. Basta, i did... another memorable experience ung pag stay ko dun for three days... WHY?! AKIN n lang UN.. eheheh...

yep. three days... i have to be back here in bicol for my Civil Service Prof exam... i took the exam this morning.. HELL, t'was difficult! anyway, i think i did just fine.. but i don't think it would be enough for me to pass.. what i meant when i say that i did just fine is that, i was able to answer all the questions and didn't make a total mistakein answering the questions..

i want to start practicing making short posts... i noticed that during my stay there, i had little time to access the web.. I really did miss internet.. i still don't know when i will go back there.. maybe, tomorrow... just keep in touch you guyz!! ciao!!

DOST Job Fair

a letter from the DOST arrived last 19th.. it's an invitation for a seminar and a job fair, sponsored by the DOST.. GREAT NEWS!! that just might what i've been waiting.. just like what the letter said,
"THIS COULD BE THE TURNING POINT OF YOUR LIFE"

there was an attached reply slip.. ---that's the WHAT!!
***-**** was the fax number.. ---that's WHERE (to be sent)
DOST ----that's to WHOM (it should be sent)
JULY 17th --- that's WHEN (deadlyn of the reply slip)

yeah! july 17th!! and the letter was delivered to me on the 19th.. TWO DAYS AFTER athe deadline.. the LIGAO CITY post office received the letter on the 12th... haaayyzzz.. even if the job fair is still on the 26th, the reply slip was due 2 days after i actually received the notice.. Anyway, i went to the post office to complain.. after some stressful minutes of making the one in-charge of the situation, athey granted my request for a certification that the letter was delivered to me late... i am supposedly going to attach this with the reply slip so that it would still be honored..

by the way, am not going to attend the JOB FAIR.. ehehe.. i don't think am prepared for it anyway.. not worth the effort... together with the DOST letter was the notice from the civil service commission.. it's my room assignment for the PROFESSIONAL EXAM on the 30th.. am cramming for that exam... i want to pass it on my first attempt!! wish me luck!!

my PC is sick again.. i suspect the power supply is damaged... i think that happened to give me time to review for the prof exam.. eheheh..

CONGRATULATIONS to all those new NURSES out there.. to those who didn't pass, look at it this way: AT LEAST, you won't be accused of getting hold of the LEAKAGE!! ehehe..

PACMAN’s Achilles heel

Last July 2 Manny Pacquiao made his way to the ring to face Oscar Larios of Mexico.. I was hoping to see PacMan go down or get hit pretty badly… But of course, am still hoping he wouldn’t loose… Before his fight, he seemed VERY TOO MUCH CONFIDENT.. Larios was already training hard for the fight but Manny is still making appearances on different TV programs.. Fame is getting into his head, maybe even up to the tip of every hair strand.. I was hoping to see him get beat up so that he would learn his lesson.. Unfortunately, he dominated the fight.. But still, had he only attained his best shape, he could have knocked out Larios.. Hopefully, he would not get fame get in his way for the preparation in his rematch with Morales..

t’was Friday night when Grace Ann and I stayed at chel’s place.. The three of us were fresh grads, we were bored but not really looking for work… ehehe.. A blessing came.. it was mher’s kindness.. she loaded chel’s Globe with 50 pesos, while I got 30 for my Smart!! Weeeeee!! thanks mher!! Grace ann’s birthday is on the tenth so we requested that she treat us with something.. besides, it’s not only that her birthday is nearing but she is also now a licensed social worker having passed the board exam.. She agreed! it was already one in the morning when we went to the burger house for some snacks! whew!! thanks Grace!!! api birthday!

This one could be my biggest frustration for the week.. I heard it from brkdang Charlene.. it was an UNLImited text service to all networks regardless what network you are using.. It works like this.. you enroll to the service by buying a pin from a retailer that costs forty pesos; already good for 5days… then, you have to send the pin together with your username to mobile number (depending on ur network) after that, you will receive confirmation and instructions how to use the service.. first, you begin by adding your buddies.. FOR example, am a SMART subscriber. in order to send messages for free to GLOBE, SUN or TM subscribers I have to add them as buddies.. then, all I have to do from then on is to compose a message with their nicknames I have assigned to them at the beginning of every msg. and I will send it to the SMART number assigned by e-text.. I can send free msgs because I am enrolled to the SMART 258 promo.. yes, you’re right.. I still have to avail the SMART UNLI promo for me to use the use e-txt.. Anyway, extra cost equals extra service… it works like this: a smart unli user sends the msg to a smart number assigned by etext which somehow functions as a server.. then he looks up the nickname in ur msg and matches it with the buddies that you have enrolled and sends it to them.. this is the beautiful part of it.. the number that appears on the txt msg to a buddy is different from that you are using.. for example he is a Globe user, a globe number would appear.. If he is a SUN user, a SUN number will appear..etext uses this scheme so that if your buddy is also enrolled to an unlimited service offered by their network, they can make a FREE reply..

we were the “pioneers” of the service that is why we know very little of how it works or what are the hidden glitches to the service.. it wasn’t long since I found out one trap! after just 5 hours of using the service, somebody pulled the cord! I got disconnected. a text advisory said that I have insufficient balance and that I need to make a reload to continue using e-text… of course, I freaked out! who wouldn’t! loading 40pesos worth of etxt gives a subscriber 150.00 units.. at first I didn’t mind that figure since it was believed that it is an unlimited (meaning NO LIMITS, ryt?) service… WRONG!!! it mattered a lot.. I later learned that adding a buddy or requesting for your list of buddies costs a staggering FIVE UNITS!!! and just like that, my unlimited text message service to all networks came not just to and abrupt halt but to a very frustrating S, annoying T, bothersome O, and maddening P!!!

Charlene, which introduced to me the service made up for her shortcoming.. that is her inadequacy to answer my inquiries regarding the service.. she shouldered the 40pesos used for the registration!! sowee dod!!!

WHew!! that was quite a longer-than-usual post.. till next time!!

BRONTOK

a few days ago, i noticed an html file in my "My p ictures" folder.. it's file name is "about.brontok.a" i don't knwo how i t got there so i deleted it.. when i browsed through my documents.. i noticed a blank folder with the same name as the folder it was located.. i opened it and "My Documents" opened.. i was baffled but didn't pay mucj attention to it.. i went back to the folder and deleted it..

then, when i pressed "up one level", which takes me back to "my pictures" the brontok html file was right there again... i becames suspicious but deleted it anyway... when i opened some of my folders i noticed that they have been duplicated too.. this time, am sure i have a virus...

i searched the Web for the Brontok virus and found some free softwares that claims they can remove it.. i downloaded them, but when i try it with my pc, it didn't work..

so, what i did was to download an updated version of AVG.. during installation, it prompted me to uninstall first the older AVG version i have... only then that i have noticed that the AVG i have been using all this time was realeased almost three years ago!! THREE YEARS AGO!!!

after installing the updated version, i found that 471 of my 41000 files is infected!! there was already a colony of worms and viruses in my PC.. maybe they even have their own postal code on my hard dsik... ehehe...

from now on, i'll have my anti-virus updated from time to time.. you should do the same.. well, i guess you do..
